(Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Kakinada) JNTUK CGPA Calculator & Percentage Converter
Please Note - I searched for references on the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Kakinada (JNTUK) website but could not find them. The below calculation is based on JNTUH. However, the formulas are the same for SGPA and CGPA, but the CGPA conversion into percentage may differ.JNTUK SGPA Calculator
Course | Grade | Credits | Action |

where
- Ci = Number of credits earned in the ith course of a semester for which SGPA is to be calculated.
- n = The no. of subjects ‘registered’ for the semeste
- Gi = Grade point earned in the ith course.
- i = The subject indicator index (takes into account all subjects in a semester.
Example of SGPA Calculation
Course/Subject | Credit | Letter Grade | Grade Point | Credit Points |
---|---|---|---|---|
Course 1 | 3 | A | 8 | 3 × 8 = 24 |
Course 2 | 3 | B | 6 | 3 × 6 = 18 |
Course 3 | 4 | O | 10 | 4 × 10 = 40 |
Course 4 | 4 | C | 5 | 4 × 5 = 20 |
Course 5 | 3 | A+ | 9 | 3 × 9 = 27 |
Course 6 | 3 | A | 8 | 3 × 8 = 24 |
20 | 153 |

The formula for CGPA Calculator at JNTUK
\[\text{CGPA} = \frac{\sum_{i=1}^{m} C_j G_j}{\sum_{i=1}^{m} C_j} \]where
- Cj = Number of credits earned in the jth course of the Programme for which CGPA is to be calculated
- m = The total no. of subjects (as specifically required and listed under the course structure of the parent department) the student has ‘registered’ i.e., from the 1st semester onwards up to and inclusive of the 8th semester,
- Gj = Grade point earned in the jth course; A grade lower than D(i.e. grade point < 4 ) in a course shall not be taken into account
- j = The subject indicator index (takes into account all subjects from 1 to 8 semesters)
Example of CGPA Calculation
Semester | Credits | SGPA | Credit × SGPA |
---|---|---|---|
Semester I | 24 | 8 | 24 × 8 = 192 |
Semester II | 24 | 9 | 24 × 9 = 216 |
Semester III | 24 | 8 | 24 × 8 = 192 |
Semester IV | 24 | 7 | 24 × 7 = 168 |
Semester V | 24 | 6.5 | 24 × 6.5 = 156 |
Semester VI | 24 | 7.5 | 24 × 7.5 = 180 |
Semester VII | 24 | 8.5 | 24 × 8.5 = 204 |
Semester VIII | 24 | 8.5 | 24 × 8.5 = 204 |
192 | 1512 |
The formula can also be written as
\[ \text{SGPA/CGPA} = \frac{\sum(Grade \; Point \times Credits)}{\sum Credits} \]Where:
- Grade Point is the grade point corresponding to the grade obtained in the course (typically on a scale from 0 to 10).
- Credit is the credit weightage assigned to the course.
JNTUK CGPA to Percentage Converter
Please note, the JNTUH has released many notifications where they claimed different CGPA to Percentage conversion formulas, which is very confusing.
It is your responsibility to check the multiplying factor for the conversion.
The formula for conversion from CGPA to percentage is:
\[ \text{Percentage} = (\text{CGPA} - 0.5) \times 10 \]For example, if the CGPA is 9.3, then the percentage would be:
\[ \text{Percentage} = (9.3 - 0.5) \times 10 = 88.00\% \]Grading procedure
