The formula for GPA/SGPA and CGPA is same which is given below -

\[ = \frac{\sum (\text{Grade Points} \times \text{Credits})}{\sum \text{Credits}} \]

Where

  1. A student earns grade point (GP) in each course, on the basis of the letter grade obtained by him in that course (excluding mandatory non-credit courses).
  2. The corresponding ‘credit points’ (CP) are computed by multiplying the grade point with credits for that particular course.

The Formula:

The formula to convert CGPA to percentage for Mumbai University is very clear

\[ \text{Percentage} = 7.1 \cdot \text{CGPA} + 11 \]

For example, if the CGPA is 8.9, then the percentage would be:

\[ \text{Percentage} = 7.1 \times 8.9 + 11 \] \[ \text{Percentage} = 74.19\% \]

Please note - The Credit Based Semester and Grading System is applicable only to the learners admitted (enrolled) for the first year of the Undergraduate degree programmes under the faculties of Arts, Science & Commerce from academic year 2011‐2012 onwards in a progressive phased manner (i.e. for the first year of U.G. programme from academic year 2011‐12 onwards; for the second year of U.G. programme from academic year 2012‐13 onwards; and for the third year of the U.G. programme from academic year 2013‐14 onwards). It is applicable to the affiliated colleges and University Departments.
